Keta, Young Female, 28 pounds, Richmond VA *Courtesy Listing*
Hello, I’m Keta and MomsVA is helping me find a new forever home. I am looking for an adventure partner. I love to hike, run free, ride with my head out the window, and dig in the water for special rocks. Between exercising and training, my favorite place to be is within reach of a good pet or belly rub, or even kisses if you’ll accept them! In my young life, I have lived in a lot of places and met a lot of people. I really like people, even kids!
The best home for me is one with a strong pack leader that can tell me what needs to be done—I aim to please. I am food motivated and love to practice training. Even though I have been raised with my littermate sister, I would be best in a household without other dogs. You see, I get quite nervous around other dogs—even my own sister! I want to feel secure in my position in the household and around other dogs, and I need a leader and a home where I can feel safe and secure.

Spencer, Young Male, 52 pounds, Richmond VA
Hey! Spencer here, I’m a sweet boy, around 18-24 months old looking for my people! I got rescued from a scary shelter and my foster mom says I’m just a Happy, Friendly, Silly, Goofy, Funny guy (she can go on and on). I think I have a lot to offer some lucky family, and everyone says I am so smart! I absolutely LOVE training classes and learning new things!! And my teacher says I am SO good at it!! I even pick things up faster than my foster mom! LOL After my classes, I get some time in the yard where I can meet new pups! My teachers make sure it is a safe controlled environment which makes me happy. Some want to play, which I am totally up for, some not so much so I try to stay out of their way! I like to play and play hard so hopefully if my new home has a fur sibling, they will like to play too! Human siblings, probably best to keep them older cause I’m still just a kid myself and pretty bouncy. As for the kitties, I’ve never met one so I can’t really say. My ideal home would have a fenced yard so I can run and play because I love my zoomies! Better to get them out in the yard than in the house, my foster mom says. I’m good in my crate, I am always up for a car ride or a walk around the neighborhood, and I am working hard on my loose leash skills! Oh and I like rubber toys that squeak! If you just can’t resist my sweet face as I longingly look into your eyes, please click here to see if we could be a match! |

Cleo, Young Female, 60 pounds, Richmond VA
Hello. My name is Cleo and they call me a shepherd/mix. My foster mom says I am ‘super sweet’ because I love to cuddle with her. I also love to go for daily walks, hikes, and car rides – and I very much enjoy the water hose when it is on jet and sprayed at me! I get into a cute pose just as the hose is about to “attack” me.
MomsVA has me in training and I wear an e-collar. My foster family is reinforcing basic commands- sit, down, stay and I am also working on walking next to my person and waiting for instructions. I am smart and I love to learn – especially all the praise and treats!
I get along with most of the dogs in my foster home but I can be a bit bossy sometimes. My e-collar has been helpful to let me know when my behavior needs a bit of re-thinking. ADOPTION application
The best home for me is one where folks have a lot of experience with dogs so that they can help me be the best girl I can be. If you think we could be a match, click here.

Dante, Young Male, 8 pounds, Richmond VA
Meet Dante! This cutie patootie is a 17-month-old black and tan Chihuahua that is looking for his Chi loving family! Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with huge personalities and big dog attitude and this boy is no exception!! He loves to play fetch, even bringing the ball back on occasion and is lightning fast when doing zoomies around the yard. His foster mom is never far when he is outside because prey birds will come after them!
He loves playing with is toys and he loves being with his people. He is a HUGE kisser and has the most expressive eyes so when he turns on the charm, you are putty in his paws!
Even tiny dogs can benefit from positive training so we would recommend a basic class to help with boundaries and structure and socializing with other dogs, otherwise this clever boy will rule your household like a little Napoleon!
Dante loves kids, but these little ones are not made for roughhousing and can be possessive of their things so an adult home or older, respectful kids that have previous experience with tiny dogs are best. While they come across as tough, they are quite fragile and care has to be taken to keep them from harm and also protected from the weather, especially the cold! Tiny sweaters and jackets will be in your future! They can also get under foot so make sure you are stable on your feet at all times!
Dante is crate trained, and he eats in his crate, and his is housebroken, but you do have to keep an eye on him especially if he has been playing a lot he is still very much puppy. He also loves to go for rides in the car and does well, but he would do best in car seat with a tie to keep him in place.
His foster mom thinks he may have had a bad experience with dogs previously because he seems fearful and nervous around them and doesn’t seem to care for them one bit especially big dogs. He is not afraid to let them know how he feels, so a home all to himself may be best for this boy to start! And that also means this little guy is going to need a family that has his back at all times and will make sure to keep him safe and out of trouble!
If you think you might be the right home for little Dante and you are interested in meeting or adopting, please click here to complete an application.

Noah, Puppy Male, 41 pounds, Richmond VA (Courtesy Listing)
Meet Noah! This sweet 7-8 month old puppy was abandoned in a home when the owners moved out. He is a shy boy with people, but will warm up, especially if treats are involved!
This playful boy loves other dogs, they help him come out of his shell, so a home with an established friendly dog looking for a playmate that can be a role model would be best for him.
He is crate trained, does well with potty training when on a schedule, and does well in the house with supervision. He also walks pretty well on leash, knows sit, and is treat motivated.
Noah needs a patient family that will continue to help build his confidence with positive introductions as he learns how to become his bestest self! Because of his shyness, we recommend older children (8+) that can help in his training.Once he warms up, this guy loves to snuggle and give kisses and has a laid-back personality. He would do well in an equally laid-back home.
If you think this boy would make a great addition to your family, please click here to complete an application and see if he is a match!
