Keta, Young Female, 28 pounds, Richmond VA *Courtesy Listing*
Hello, I’m Keta and MomsVA is helping me find a new forever home. I am looking for an adventure partner. I love to hike, run free, ride with my head out the window, and dig in the water for special rocks. Between exercising and training, my favorite place to be is within reach of a good pet or belly rub, or even kisses if you’ll accept them! In my young life, I have lived in a lot of places and met a lot of people. I really like people, even kids!
The best home for me is one with a strong pack leader that can tell me what needs to be done—I aim to please. I am food motivated and love to practice training. Even though I have been raised with my littermate sister, I would be best in a household without other dogs. You see, I get quite nervous around other dogs—even my own sister! I want to feel secure in my position in the household and around other dogs, and I need a leader and a home where I can feel safe and secure.

Spencer, Young Male, 52 pounds, Richmond VA
Hey! Spencer here, I’m a sweet boy, around 18-24 months old looking for my people! I got rescued from a scary shelter and my foster mom says I’m just a Happy, Friendly, Silly, Goofy, Funny guy (she can go on and on). I think I have a lot to offer some lucky family, and everyone says I am so smart! I absolutely LOVE training classes and learning new things!! And my teacher says I am SO good at it!! I even pick things up faster than my foster mom! LOL After my classes, I get some time in the yard where I can meet new pups! My teachers make sure it is a safe controlled environment which makes me happy. Some want to play, which I am totally up for, some not so much so I try to stay out of their way! I like to play and play hard so hopefully if my new home has a fur sibling, they will like to play too! Human siblings, probably best to keep them older cause I’m still just a kid myself and pretty bouncy. As for the kitties, I’ve never met one so I can’t really say. My ideal home would have a fenced yard so I can run and play because I love my zoomies! Better to get them out in the yard than in the house, my foster mom says. I’m good in my crate, I am always up for a car ride or a walk around the neighborhood, and I am working hard on my loose leash skills! Oh and I like rubber toys that squeak! If you just can’t resist my sweet face as I longingly look into your eyes, please click here to see if we could be a match! |
Cleo, Young Female, 60 pounds, Richmond VA
Hello. My name is Cleo and they call me a shepherd/mix. My foster mom says I am ‘super sweet’ because I love to cuddle with her. I also love to go for daily walks, hikes, and car rides – and I very much enjoy the water hose when it is on jet and sprayed at me! I get into a cute pose just as the hose is about to “attack” me.
MomsVA has me in training and I wear an e-collar. My foster family is reinforcing basic commands- sit, down, stay and I am also working on walking next to my person and waiting for instructions. I am smart and I love to learn – especially all the praise and treats!
I get along with most of the dogs in my foster home but I can be a bit bossy sometimes. My e-collar has been helpful to let me know when my behavior needs a bit of re-thinking. ADOPTION application
The best home for me is one where folks have a lot of experience with dogs so that they can help me be the best girl I can be. If you think we could be a match, click here.

Alfie, Male Puppy, 31 pounds, Richmond VA
Hey There! My name is Alfie! I’m a sweet, affectionate, bouncy puppy, about 6 months old, and I love to have fun! I was rescued from a local shelter which was really scary, but now I am safe and learning so many new things in my foster home.
No one ever spent any time with me to show me the things I need to know so I am now learning how to be the best puppy I can be!
I have mastered crate training, no accidents here, although I would rather be out of the crate and playing! Sometimes I get a little anxious in my crate when I am all alone, so my foster brother Spencer keeps me company. I think I would like a home that has a sweet, playful, well-mannered adult dog that already knows the rules so they can help teach me. I do love to play with other dogs!
I like playing with my toys, running around the yard, and going for walks. My foster mom says I am not too bad on leash, but I could definitely use a positive obedience training class to help me focus when learning my new skills! My foster mom says it is so important (training) and a must as it will also help me bond with my new family.
I am a bit mouthy right now, puppies often explore with their mouths, so older (8+) respectful kids are best.
I am all puppy and will require lots of time, patience, positive training methods, and exercise so if you don’t have that time to put into me to help me grow, I am probably not the right pup for you!
If now is the right time and you are looking to add to your family, please click here to see if we could be a match!

Dante, Adult Male, 9 pounds, Richmond VA- Local Adoptions Only
Meet Dante! This cutie patootie is a 23-month blue and tan Chihuahua that is looking for a very special family with Chi or small dog experience.
Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with huge personalities and big dog attitude and this boy is no exception!!
He LOVES playing with his toys and he loves being with his people. He loves to snuggle close and feel safe and he is a HUGE kisser to everyone he meets! He has the most expressive eyes so when he turns on the charm, you are putty in his paws!
Dante responds well to positive training methods and never tires of hearing what a good boy he is, so we would recommend a basic training class to help with boundaries and structure for him as this clever boy will rule your household like a little Napoleon! (he is going to do that anyway)
Dante does like kids, but these little ones are not made for roughhousing and he can be possessive of his things sometimes, so an adult home for this boy is preferred.
While they come across as tough, they are quite fragile and care has to be taken to keep them protected from harm, themselves, and the weather, especially the cold! Unfortunately, he is not a fan of coats or sweaters and will need a lot positive reinforcement (and lots of treats) when sporting outdoor gear. He does love his blankets though and likes to bury himself in them!
Dante is crate trained, it’s like his little kingdom in there, and he eats in his crate. He can resource guard his food sometimes (although he is doing much better) so having a safe place to eat is important for him. He is housebroken, but you do have to keep an eye on him especially if he has been playing a lot but he will try and let you know. He also loves to go for rides in the car and does well, but he would do best in car seat with a tie to keep him in place.
Dante does not do well with other dogs and would prefer to rule your house alone and be your one and only! He is also not afraid to let other dogs know how he feels about them, so this little guy is going to need a family that has his back at all times and will make sure to keep him safe and out of trouble!
He does love to go for an occasional short leash walk, but he needs his space from other dogs when out on the walk so a busy city home with lots of pet traffic is not the best for this little guy. This boy likes they laid back vibe of a suburban home with a fenced yard for the occasional romp and zoomies! That would make him the happiest!

Hattie, Adult Female, Richmond VA *Courtesy Listing*
Hattie is a 2 1/2 year old spayed female miniature pinscher. DNA tested with no genetic risks and chipped. Unfortunately Hattie needs to be rehomed because of dominance fights between her and her 3 1/2 year old female sibling. In light of the dominance issues Hattie would likely be happiest in a single dog home.
Hattie is a snuggle bug as most minpins are but she also enjoys walks on her leash and free play in her fenced yard. She is always on the watch for squirrels or birds invading her territory. She has had very minimal contact with small children but our experiences are that he is a bit standoffish and barks a lot. He has had no exposure to cats. He is very happy to see strangers once they are in the house and is used to a large family being in and out of the home.
Hattie is house and pee pad trained and happily goes in her crate when needed. She is used to sleeping in her person's bed under the covers but will sleep overnight in her crate after a short complaint. Hattie is healthy and fully vaccinated.

Gus, Male Puppy, 13 pounds, Richmond VA *Courtesy Listing*
Introducing Gus, an adorable and spirited Beagle puppy currently looking for his forever home. Below are some details about Gus that we hope will capture your heart!
Just remember, as cute as he is, Beagles are not for every family, please do your research!
Personality:
Gus is a sweet and lively puppy, an independent thinker with a beautiful tri-colored coat. He is loud and vocal, just like a typical Beagle, and loves to explore the world with his nose always to the ground. His curious nature and medium to high energy levels keep him constantly active and ready for new adventures.
Training:
- Gus is super smart and has already learned to sit on command.
- He is currently working on crate training and housebreaking, making great progress.
- Gus will bark at the leash to let you know he needs to go outside, showing off his communication skills.
Needs:
- Exercise: Regular exercise is essential to keep Gus happy and balanced. He enjoys running and playing, making him an excellent companion for outdoor activities.
- Living Situation: Due to his vocal nature, Gus needs a home with a secure fenced yard. An apartment wouldn't suit his adventurous spirit.
- Companionship: Gus thrives on interaction and would benefit greatly from having an adult canine sibling to guide him and keep him company.
Likes:
- Toys: Gus loves playing with toys and can often be found entertaining himself with his favorites.
- Playing with other dogs: He enjoys socializing and playing with other dogs, which helps burn off some of his boundless energy.
- Hiding bones: Gus has a charming habit of hiding bones for later, always keeping a little treasure hunt going in the yard.
Why Gus?
Gus is more than just a cute face; he is a loving, intelligent, and energetic puppy looking for a forever home that can keep up with his adventurous spirit. He will bring joy, laughter, and a lot of fun to the right family. If you're ready to welcome a vocal, lively and loving Beagle into your life, Gus might just be the perfect fit!
Adoption Requirements:
- A secure, fenced yard
- A house (not an apartment)
- Willingness to continue his training with love and patience
- Preferably another dog for companionship
